Another puzzlement for me - water towers.
Of course, running clean water is a great achievement of human civilization. Romans built aqueducts, many of them still standing and being admired.
Did we have to litter the landscape with chateau d'eau? Nobody seems to mind, even when they so obviously spoil the view, like here, near Barenton in the Manche.
